Shipping within Canada | Shipping to the United States | Shipping Internationally | Lost Parcels

Orders are processed and shipped as quickly as possible, usually within 48-72 hours of receipt.  Your card is not automatically charged when you place the order. All orders are filled and processed manually by knowledgeable staff in the store (not off-site), and your credit card does not get charged until the order is finalized.

When you place your order online, you will receive a confirmation e-mail that it was placed.

If you have chosen to pay by PayPal, you will receive a separate PayPal invoice to your PayPal account at the email you provide in your order.  This will be done once we have determined all the shipping and tax charges.  As we do not ship your order until payment has been received, orders placed with this form of payment usually take longer before being shipped.

When your order has been processed and finalized, you will again receive a receipt e-mail, confirming the shipping details, date, and price, and grand total.

We ask that you please watch your e-mails in case we have any questions about your order that need answered in order to finalize it.

Shipping within Canada

We ship via Canada Post, which base their prices on volume whereby the dimensions of the package and the weight factor into the price, along with a fluctuating fuel surcharge.

We cannot know what the shipping rate will be until we weigh and measure the package to be sent.  As we want to give you the best shipping price always, we have not implemented a set shipping price scale, as we feel this can be unfair to you.  Instead, Canada Post business mailing rates are charged (which are less than walk-up rates to the general public).

When at all possible, we will ship non-standard lettermail to save you money.  Generally, 2.5 meters of printed cotton fabric (not flannel) can be sent as non-standard lettermail.

Packages sent as non-standard lettermail will not be insured.  If you wish all your purchases to be insured, please indicate this in the comments section of your order, and then we will make sure the order is sent as a parcel which will then be sent insured.

Items not insured will not be replaced or refunded in the event of non-receipt.  Please be aware that this is very, very infrequent.

Any packaged orders that are over 2 cm and/or weigh more than 500 gm, must be sent as a "parcel".  For example, a single spool of thread will have to be sent as a parcel due to it's size.

Parcels will be insured and any parcels with over a $100 value will have extra insurance coverage added to the shipping fee, based on Canada Post's current pricing for this coverage.**  This is to protect you in case of loss, so that you will receive reimbursement in the event you do not receive the parcel.  In the event of a dispute, if Canada Post's tracking records shows the parcel as having been received, then this will be the final word, and we will not be providing any reimbursement on the order.

**If you do not wish to pay for the extra insurance coverage, please indicate so in the comments section of your order.  Obviously, if you don't wish to have insurance coverage, there will be no reimbursement in the event you do not receive the package.  (As of 2017, the extra cost for each additional $100 of coverage over $100, is $2.25.)

Below are examples of items and the usual shipping charge for them.  Please keep in mind that the product you order may weigh differently, and therefore, your shipping cost may be different.

One printed cotton panel or 2 to 5 patterns (9” X 6”):  $2.95

If you have a courier account and will arrange for courier pick-up, please let us know, and we will not charge for shipping on your order.  We will provide you with the weight and dimensions of the package when the order is complete, and you may arrange for the pickup with your courier company.  Please note that we will not be handling the arrangements for you.

If you desire RUSH delivery there may be additional fee incurred.  Please contact us on our toll-free number, 1-877-745-6445.

Shipping to the United States - It's Easy & We do It All the Time!

We ship through the postal system, which base their prices on volume whereby the dimensions of the package and the weight factor into the price, along with a fluctuating fuel surcharge.

Orders cannot be sent as letter mail, as they contain goods of value and must be declared through customs.

There are no flat-rate boxes through Canada Post.  However, they do provide a Small Packet or Light Packet service via air which is based on the cubic dimensions and weight (they are not actual "packets" that are purchased).  These services do not provide insurance or tracking, but are often much less expensive than the shipping options of “Tracked Packet” or “Parcel" which do provide insurance and tracking. Therefore, we will automatically ship either as a Small Packet or Light Packet without tracking and insurance, unless:

- the cost to upgrade to Tracked Packet or Parcel is minimal ($4 or less).
- the value of your items totals over $40.
- you indicate in your order that you wish to have the items insured and the package tracked.

Please be aware that most packages sent as Small Packet or Light Packet generally take 2-3 weeks to receive.  On occasion, when the wind is right and luck is on your side, they will be received in one week.  Tracked Packet and Parcels can also take 2-3 weeks to receive, but generally seem to arrive quicker.

Orders not insured will not be replaced or refunded in the event of non-receipt.  Please be aware that this is very infrequent, but if this is a concern, please indicate in your order that you want it insured and tracked.

Large orders may not fit in the Small Packet or Light Packet categories and must be mailed as parcels.

Obviously, if you don't wish to have extra insurance coverage, there will be no reimbursement above the insured dollar value in the event you do not receive the package.  (As of 2017, the extra cost for each additional $100 of coverage over $100, is $2.25.)

Below are examples of items and the usual shipping charge for them.  Please keep in mind that the product you order may weigh differently, and therefore, your shipping cost may be different.

One printed cotton panel or 5 patterns (9” X 6”):  $6.84

8.5 meters flannel to New Hampshire:  $30 (parcel)

Quilt Rack:  $70 - $80 (parcel)

Flannel, and especially batting, are bulky items, and as such incur higher shipping costs.

Your order will pass through customs.  You are generally allowed up to $800US duty free.  Orders can take from 1-3 weeks to receive.

Shipping Internationally

Yes, we ship internationally!  All shipments are made via the postal system, and the available shipping options depend on the package size and country of delivery.

In most cases, we will contact you via e-mail to give you the available shipping options and to let you choose the method and price that you prefer.  Please watch your e-mails.

Your order will pass through customs.  Duties and customs fees vary by country and will be your responsibility to pay.

Australian Orders – Below are examples of shipping costs.  Please keep in mind that the product you order may weigh differently, and therefore, your shipping cost may be different.  But this will help give you an idea of shipping prices by air without tracking or insurance (usual 2-3 week delivery):

1 meter of printed cotton:  $11

1.5 meters of printed cotton:  $22

5 meters of printed cotton:  $41

8 meters of printed cotton:  $74

Lost Parcels

Please note that lost packages are very, very infrequent.  In the last 10 years we have only had 2 packages lost - one of which was to Europe.  In our opinion, Canada Post provides excellent, reliable service 99.9% of the time.  However, please be aware of our policies below on lost parcels:

If your order was sent via standard or non-standard lettermail, or any other non-tracking method, we are not responsible for loss.  If you are concerned about the risk of lost or stolen packages, please indicate in the Comments section of your order that you would like tracking and insurance.  Please note that this will add to the cost of mailing.

If your order was mailed using a tracking number (such as Expedited Parcel or Tracked Packet), we will investigate with Canada Post as to the package's whereabouts.  If Canada Post confirms the package as lost, you will be refunded for your order or a replacement will be sent to you.  If Canada Post's tracking records shows the parcel as having been received, then this will be the final word, and we will not be providing any reimbursement on the order.
